Microsoft

I loved working at Microsoft! There can be pressure to get a lot of work done and to take on more than what seems reasonable but I always felt challeneged. It is great to work with so many smart people and most are willing to share information and knowledge to help others succeed. I always felt I had the freedom to set my own schedule as long as my work was getting done. If I ever enter into the corporate world again I will definitely look at Microsoft.

I have enjoyed it thoroughly. On-boarding was great. 2 days at Corporate, 5 days at Tech Ready, and another 3 days of MS101. MGX was another great on-boarding activity as well as all the colleages who offered to take me aside and show the the ropes. Even for an industry vet it takes some effort to learn how to integrate but the collective team effort has really made it effective and enjoyable.

I love working in Microsoft Research. I get to work with great people on really imoprtant and interesting problems. I have access to lots of real data to analyze, and the product groups take my recommendations and analysis seriously. I can publish as much as I want, and am evaluated on a combination of my internal and external impact. I've help ship features that millions of people use, and I've continued to do basic research that advances the state of the art.

I enjoy working at Microsoft. You will get out of it, what you put into it. There are days I meet people that are obsessed with putting in 8 hours and then leave and they seem unconcerned with the greater purpose of our work. On balance, I work with incredibly intelligent and gifted people who are very, very much excited about creating the best experience for our end-users possible.

I love being at Microsoft. It's such a big place there's always something new happening and there's always a new challenge. As projects near due dates there's sometimes pressure but otherwise it's an enjoyable place to work.
